  1. It is difficult to choose between Alpacino or De Niro although falling in the obvious thing we perhaps say Alpacino, because Alpacino profit to make better race, to be respected but like actor, to show its different facets instead of to put in any film, to make money easy as De Niro but Alpacino to part of that enormous talent it has that buying charisma of Italian man sensuality that… in Hollywood sells much and is but entrador, that Of Niro does not have it.

If We observed them in detail I believe that both are excellent, in completes film in which I saw together “Reighteous Kill” (2008), film that fill a true disaster, I see to De Niro “acting”, outside context, outside of personage. I do not know the truth the biography of both actors, I have that to know it, to investigate it a little to be able to think correctly, but reason why I could to analyze of De Niro seeing it acting I saw that it generally has a very noticeable resentment with the life which I create sometimes escapes to him of the hands and one glimpses at the time of acting, in dangerous shady personages or this can be until an extra others that power its personages, but in a normal paper but plays to him against.

But…I remember to Robert in the film “Meet the parents” (2000) and is really and simply brilliant. You hate and mistresses at the same time. Even so Alpacino did in “Scarface” (1983) something that no actor did: taking a personage from the shades towards the absolute end, something that only can take I finish actor William Fichtner who stops my is infinitely better even than together Alpacino and De Niro, I hope that Fichtner is able soon a film around “Scarface” to demonstrate that insurmountable actoral talent that it has in his power.

And to versus Alpacino- De Niro, extreme to Dustin Hoffman, it is like the third lost brother.

  3. ibby says:

    @ juli: you didn’t choose!!!!
    who do you like better?!

i totally agree on “righteous kill”. what the hell was that?! i somehow had the impression that al and bob didn’t have the passion as usual to act in that movie! more like “let’s say the words that are in the script and make some faces and gestures and let’s get it over with already”

but as expected this is a tough call!! how can you make us choose, tomas?! that’s like who do you want dead?

in the clip i kinda missed “devil’s advocate”. i think that was one of the best acting of al pacino! well…they had similar careers, both had brilliant movies, similar roles, academy award winners and i go with robert de niro! with a lot of stomach ache though! just cause i think that he is more flexible in picking movies and genres!
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH! i won’t be able to sleep!!

shame on you to make me choose!!

  4. Tomas says:

    @juli: who do you chose?
@ibby: I now it’s cruel! There was a short bit of the Devil’s Advocate in the mash up. Didn’t use the famous speech one cause we used that in the ‘How Your CV is like a Trailer’ episode. Thanks for voting though!

  5. ALPACINO Ibby!!! SCARFACE IS THE MOVIE, Tony Montana is the interpretation of Alpacino in all his race!!!!

I gree about “Devil’s advocate”, 1 otter down for Showloon and for you Ibby for choose De Niro.

I don’t like the face of De Niro is the same of my Father, the same.

  6. Oh my father, I miss much my father… I hope he’s dead ja ja (and it does not revive like De Niro in “Cape fear). When approaches my birthday always remember my father. :(

  7. It never calls me for my birthday, is very sad I want to cry.
    Better listen music.

  8. ibby says:

@juli: i am truly sorry for my choice! i am not too happy with t either but i have to stick to my opinion. and i am really sorry hearing that about your father! stay happy juli!! the showloon family takes care of you!

i know i will make a lot of enimies! but i don’t like “scarface”. i think it is a highly over rated movie! i watched the movie at an older age than most people probably did and i was really disappointed i have to say!
i mean al pacino is doing a great job in that movie and all but the movie itself kinda sucks…

  9. Michael says:

    Wow, it’s a biggy…can imagine it’ll cause confrontations :)

I’d still have to side with De Niro for his performances in Raging Bull, Taxi Driver.
The latter especially speaks to me. Not that I’m going to go out there, get a haircut and start supporting politicians…but there’s definitely something there ;)

Pacino in Scarface and Carlito’s Way is pretty insane performances, and both have some great lines.

“You need people like me…so you can point your fingers.” springs to mind.

I’ve still to see HEAT…must be the only one in the world.

  10. @Ibby: Thanks for your words, really :) I drink an ice cream I feel better now je je (at the moment like always my soul is a disaster of feelings), an ice cream would not supplant the inner emptiness by the absence of my father but it is that there is.

Don’t like “Scarface”???????? I love so much this movie and the personage of Tony, is really amazing the best work of Alpacino. For this movie I choose Alpacino, but De Niro like a pshyco je je ji ji is very good, he is the same, he`s not need play, De Niro is a pshyco!!!!

  11. Tomas says:

Michael if you would live anywhere close to me, I would drag you out of your house and sit your ass down in front of a TV and make you watch HEAT before you can ever close an eye for sleep :)

  12. Tomas says:

We all try to fill some emptiness with something (@Juli) and like Ibby said there is always the Showloon Family…just another supplement but available 24hours!
Now to the tough stuff: I think Tony Montana is Al Pacino and vice versa but I wasn’t impressed by the movie either. When it comes to crime/gangster movies there are different ones that would fill my list first.

  13. Michael says:

@Tomas Hah, I’m on the next train down sir. Taxi!

I’ve still to get around to it.
Closest I’ve ever come to it is through DJ Shadow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Xm635QeTM0 ;)

Godfather, Goodfellas, Midnight Run, Once Upon a Time in America(must-see) and how could I forget, ‘The Mission’.
De Niro’s way ahead and just about to lap Pacino.

  14. athenayesha says:

wooohh, two gigantic actors get together in one movie, excellent!!!

to be honest watching the movie ‘HEAT’, i gave infinite otters to Robert de Niro.. in my point of view(excuse to the people who watch the ‘HEAT’) i feel like 50% of the movie goes to BOB and the half goes to the rest of the characters.. actually, its Bob’s moment, though…it’s a marvelous piece of his work and it’s so perfect at the moment without anything artificial by him..you know, there’s a high level of integrity that you’ll see in his attitude,in just the way his hands move and the expressions of his face.. yeah, totally got me..

His character(Robert de Niro) was a quiet look at a thief who has a certain kind of lonely regardless of who he kills but yet somehow you’re in touch with his humanity.. very complex personality but at the same simple…the fusion of Robert de Niro and Neil mc Cauley(De Niro’s character) is so total..

the character of Al Pacino in the ‘Heat’ was hot tempered and hypered cop.. his character was seemingly the same with the movie ‘Scent of a woman’..nothing new for me.. Definitely, i would go for ROBERT DE NIRO…no,no,no not just about this movie but the totally in him as a person,i would authentically say…

Trivia #1: portion of the movie was non fiction and Neil mc Cauley(played by Robert de Niro) does really exist but he died way back 1964 in an encounter..

trivia #2:Neil mc Cauley was imprisoned for 25 years and 8 years was in Alcatraz and 4 years of its was in the isolation what they called ‘THE HOLE’..

  15. athenayesha says:

as i observe, every people here unveil their trueself(some other in the previous episodes) and i appreciate that..

  16. Tomas says:

The majority seems to be tending towards Booby DeNiro. Well, I clearly agree that he is more the movie actor (if only by a razor sharp margin) than Al Pacino. In my opinion, Al Pacino is a stage actor doing plays and working, bending and making words his won like no other. Al Pacino is my favourite by a fraction, just love when he gets all intense the old nutter…hahaha! So Mr. Pacino is my vote.

And YES Athenayesha, this Showlooners are a honest, intelligent, super-cool and a crazy bunch. Not sure if I have been to a community on the web where the comments where of such integrity…I feel mighty proud for having the privilege to say so!

  17. Tomas says:

@Michael: Good ol’ DJ rough-image-cast-by-an-object-blocking-rays-of-illumination. Mate, forget your CHE project and slot in some HEAT before that. Won’t say anything further because raising expectations can often be b@%ch. (It’s awesome by the way)

  18. @Tomas: Today katana for you Tomas!!! je je je Please, “Scarface” is amazing. I don`t like the gasgster’s movies but “Scarface” blow up my head, the personage of Tony Montana is one of complex personages of the history of the cinema, plenty of shades, deep in extreme, and obvious we agreed that film without Alpacino not will be the same. “Scarface” is Alpacino.
And one otter more for Alpacino for dancing Tango in “Scent of a Woman”.

  19. ibby says:

@tomas: “BOOBY” de niro??? some hidden desires we don’t know of???

well, after a bad sleep thanks to tomas making me choose between al and BOB i am really pleased to read all these lines. really makes me feel better!
i like the showlooners but i rather call us “showloonatics”. how you like that?!

@juli: of course i have a comment for you, too! little vampire, haha!! with every new episode i realize that we cannot go to the cinema together.
al pacino seems to have the same character all the time! the highly hot tempered guy that can do speeches better than obama!
always tensed and owning! and i don’t mean all that in a negative way. he always gets me with his acting but there is just more variety in bob’s acting and characters.

god, i am still trying to somehow excuse my choice…
    damn you, mr. “T”!!

  20. It is not easy to dance Tango, even more difficult is to dance Tango doing of blind person so well good for Al! :)

  21. Oh yeah Ibby!! je je I like it “showloonatics”…oh yeah…
I feel that it identifies to us more that nick, Do you belive it?

If we are going to condemn Alpacino for to play always the same role, Robert DeNiro burning fire in hell!!. As I said previously Alpacino knew to make better race, merit but like actor and to be in but facets, and he dance Tango! With that for my he already gain the sky, although those machine guns of “Scarface” they shake me the brain!!.

  22. Blood blood for everywhere je je
Tony Montana president!! He has my vote!!

  23. ibby says:

@juli: of course the patriot votes for the one that dances the national dancing style! in your case tango.

to be honest i would have voted for al pacino if he had done the korean fan dance! that would have been a sight!

    you are crazy juli:)!

  24. athenayesha says:

i gather all my Robert de Niro and Al Pacino movie, i have here THe Deer hunter,15 minutes,insomnia,88 minutes, casino, ronin, the recruit and righteous kill…all of these i haven’t watch it yet, i’m gonna give details in my own perspective of who’s best of the best when it comes to acting regardless the story of the movie.. but personally my heart goes to Robert de Niro..

@Juli: what’s katana? i always figured it out like its an archery…

  25. athenayesha says:

categorically speaking,i find Robert de Niro very handsome.. if Juli’s father look like Robert de Niro therefore her father is handsome…

  26. @athenayesha: je je je je What`s katana? mmm is a secret je je je je, but athenayesha can be added to the group of showloonatics so we will tell Ibby je je. Katana is an oriental and fatal sword battle that is used to kill the opponent.
And my father he will a very good looking man, who has women throughout and leaves children in all sides but he is really a bad person. A good looking man with bad feelings does not serve, direct katana and that he dies!
My brothers are more good looking than my father and are better people but they are a little crazy like me je je je je

@Ibby: je je je je I’m not crazy Ibby, only I have middle disturb my head ji ji ji je je je je

  27. And I don’t know to dance tango je je ji ji. I trie to learn but me bored je je ji ji ji ji

  28. Tomas says:

I like Showloonatics! Let’s just ALL have a Kantana and then we go for a drink and dance tango with our eyes closed :)

  29. baxtelf says:

Late to the game but want to vote for Pacino. I just like to watch him act better. I agree about the speeches he gives. Very intense. DeNiro’s recent turn to comedy almost won me over but I have to stay with Al. Very fun to read the comments.

P.S. I think Heat was Val’s last good movie.

  30. ibby says:

@juli: yeah you are crazy! haha, hihi, hoho!! i sometimes paint my face white and dye my hair green and run around the city and create chaos! they call me joker!

@tomas: that would be very deadly and bloody dance…i watch you doing it and laugh at every blood fountain hitting the street!

@baxtelf: you are slightly wrong about val kilmer! he had one last good movie: kiss kiss bang bang!! you haven”t watched it yet?? GO GO GO!!!! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR???!!!!

  31. athenayesha says:

@Juli: oh i see,but there’s one thing in commom between archery and sword, the middle point..
Ok fill me in, in Showloonatics!! but i’m not that ‘crazy’, hahahaha… all i could do sometimes slap a face(with just one blow) and her mouth is bleeding…that’s what a friend could do to a friend..

Oh really?he don’t deserve you girl…irresponsible father, i hate that badly… more Katana to him!!! don’t think too much be optimistic at least you get the good genes… Bravo to your Brother..

  32. @Tomas: Oh Yeah!!! We dance Tango showloonatics with the bandaged eyes and katanas in the hands. I like it :)
@Ibby: I love so much to the Joker, oh, is my favourite personage!!
@athenayesha: je je, now you are a showloonatic you will be a katana for you je je, is yours! je je

  33. athenayesha says:

    @juli: ACCEPTED!!!!

  34. @athenayesha: Excellent je je je je(and the hands like Mr Burns of The Simpson)

  35. abdool says:

    De Niro

  36. Tomas says:

    Cheers Abdool!

  37. athenayesha says:

@juli: oh really? well try to watch mr.burns in simpsons, hahahaha…

My friend going to take the BAR EXAM tom(their first day)every sunday for one month..we’re conducting a BAR OPERATION tom to give support…In taking the BAR EXAM at least you have these 3 aspects BRAIN(well read), GOOD HANDWRITING (person who check the paper could read the answers properly),and the important thing is LUCK…I hope and pray the could pass… AMEN!!!

  38. athenayesha says:

Regarding with this episode, i’ve watched 2 movies CASINO (De Niro)and 88 minutes(Pacino)…all i could say:
CASINO: didn’t surpassed to my expectations but he quite done it well(acting).. cool dude, very handsome all i could see was he’s suits he wear more on pastel colors match to his shoes and he’s the first that i’ve seen wearing like that (could you imagine wearing blue, pink, green and all that) ..

88 minutes : he quite give justice his role but i wasn’t convinced either coz i feel like he’s too old for his role.. being a womanizer and some of his students fall for him and the other was used by the real culprit and sets him up.. i didn’t like it that much but there’s still a drive to know who’s the real killer and keep you guessing till the end…

  39. Destiny says:

    AL PACINO OF COURSE

People, the question is simple, just choose one actor. Do not list bio’s, or you whole life story to why one is better, or why you can’t choose. If this is the case, do not type a reply. Thanks
