what a coincidence? i’ve watched serendipity again last week… and jotting down notes excerpt from the movie itself and i’m gonna share it to you guys later…
it seems Family Man is a heart wrenching movie and i’m gonna look forward to watch that …

DESTINY is a fortunate accident which is uncontrollable.. you know, everything’s predestined…

  2. Like already I commented to athenayesha in previous post , I believe in the destiny.

Like a face of two currencies, it shows to its misfortune and its fortune to you.

In these 25 years that I take of life, between the cinema and the same life, there am shortage that the simple things but are those that they identify to us like people. The simple things but can show to us like Gods or the existing miserable person but in this world.

Of this same form, the currency occurs return, our actions leaves a track, draws up a way, they separate to us of the other soon to unite to us or to dismantle us for always.

Like a birthday cake. The sweet portion but often becomes bitter.

Everything returns in the life. The human being is really wonderful like orchestra before so painful or glorious circumstances.

They say that what does not kill to you fortifies to you, but the person who cannot see beyond her own ego and throw a glance to which is the world, never will can understand what is the destiny and even less what is to live.

It is like a little girl who never returns to her house and we found out as soon as she was assassinated. Can be justified lost a so early one? (“Gone baby gone” 2007, Ben Affleck) In a film we can have see of this girl becoming woman and soon in prostituta and finally to be assassinated, its destiny was to die? Can be justified a dead from a so relative point of view? Or it is a necessity of the mind to protect itself of something so incomprehensible and painful as it is the death?.

The time would give me the reason.
I insist with “Match point”, everything is transformed to the take of the ring.

  4. athenayesha says:

@juli : yeah i agree with u juli that there are two faces of life (full of lack or never had much of luck) that were destined to be on… And everyone are destined to die…
BUt let’s talk about on the lighter side or wonderful side of life and that is LOVE….
WHat’s your ‘Destiny’ awaits you? YOu can’t answer that unless your in the situation right now…or maybe perhaps you can make a guess or make a situation by saying ‘what If’ you had met someone in the middle of nowhere and everything’s is ‘magic’ … you never looked for that, fortunately it came to you that’s why i’m calling it a fortunate accidents..and the rest is history blah, blah, blah…..

  5. @athenayesha: If two faces of the life, and the two faces of the people. They say that one finds what looks for. There is certain security in feeling that everything depends on one, in if I am going to have a positive attitude I am going to have a shining destiny and not always it is thus. People try to always flee from the fatalism, of the death. For that reason she sells but the cinema of ” comedia” that a dark cinema but of police officer or a drama with content. As in the life it has of everything, I believe in the destiny, but in that double slide of ” luck/fatalidad” to the Match Point style.

Do you believe in the famous the other orange athenayesha? In which each has its other right half in the love? (The only Half completes that us, to that I talk about).

  6. @athenayesha: It works well your katana? The destiny wanted that you had one je je

  7. ibby says:

i don’t believe in destiny as i said earlier. i don’t like the thought of everything being already dictated for you.
what abozut unborn babies that died before even starting to live? where was the destiny behind it? to make the parents live diferently after losing their child? and the actual price for that paid the unborn? doesn’t make any sense to me…

of course there are incidents that make you think:”how the hell did that happen?” or not happen! and verybody experienced that! but that’s only a matter of being lucky or unlucky! having the right timing or not! nothing is pre-assigned for you…

just like in the movie butterfly effect! one thing has been done differently and it has a major effect on your whole life.

i don’t believe in me being a better person if i had not stolen from the store! i got caught in the end andnever did it again! but that is not the reason for me being caught after all. i got caught because i got greedy and wanted to steal mor and more. and if did not steal in the first place i would not have to go through this lesson. and i knew that stealing is wrong at the first place.

a mother gets killed in front of her children and her husband cause some idiot throws a wodden log from a bridge into her car! where is the reason for her being killed that way and her family having a hard time for the rest of their lives?

the reason is: there is no reason! it just takes a bad timing and an useless idiot that screws up a whole family! the thing is: people are always questioning things that they cannot find out. what would have happened if…

thats the reason why we have religions! where do we come from, why are we here, what are we supposed to do…? there has to be someone, somthing greater than us that rules everything! starts with the indios in the bush believing in a crocodile that made love with the moon and delivered an egg that is the earth and ends with the most popular religions such as christianity, islam, buddhism, hinduism and judaism.

i think i already said that once before: destiny is just another excuse!

  8. Tomas says:

In my opinion, it’s hard to to put a puzzle together if you haven’t see the whole picture. Unfortunately, it is hard to tell for us if it’s just random bits or actually bits that have a fitting piece it belongs to somewhere and, once all are put together, make sense. Either way, try to make the best out of everything in the meantime!

  9. CJ says:

I’m not going to properly join in the debate as this topic is a huge can of worms that millenia of philosophers haven’t been able to figure out. The crux of the debate, for as long as you’re defining destiny as something like ‘the inevitable outcome of a sequence of events’, is the question of precisely what it means to say that something is ‘predetermined’, whether it really is as simple as necessary cause and effect, and how we can say if any of this is true without knowing the origins of the universe. After all, if we believe in such a causal chain, don’t we have to believe that it started at some point? If so, how did it? (The answer of God brings a whole swathe of new problems and an even bigger can of worms.)

But I will say, re: the unborn baby stuff, that when you go looking for ‘reasons’ like that, you’re basically questioning the morality of it, which is assuming that there has to be some deliberate, conscious rationale behind destiny. In other words, you’re assuming that there has to be a God. The belief in destiny does not require belief in a God, or at least not one who deliberately tests people in that way. It doesn’t necessarily factor in any kind of morality. Destiny can be tough.

I’d go for Tomas’ advice there. Just do your best, and even if you doing your best turns out to be, mindbendingly, all part of some predetermined chain of events (and likewise, if you follow this advice, so will the advice itself), there’s probably not much point in worrying about it. Unless that was predetermined too.

I have to say, though, I think it’s funny if it’s true that it is part of our ‘destiny’ to talk about destiny. I’m convinced that at some point in this whole debate we just got ourselves trapped in language.

Good film: Run Lola Run (Original German title: Lola Rennt). Same idea as Sliding Doors, but it’s edgier, with a more action-based set-up.

  10. athenayesha says:

@juli: Ok, if my destiny is to received a katana then definitely its unfortunate scenario of my life that i’m destined to be on… i agree with you that if you have a positive outlook in life then you have good life ahead of you.. juli, can you elaborate clearly about the famous other orange? it looks interesting?

@Tomas: i agree what you said… but the question is do you believe in destiny and so with CJ? YES or NO?

@Ibby: how come you didn’t believe in destiny when in fact ‘unborn babies’ it’s their destiny not being born, you know what i mean? coz destiny is for everyone in everywhere it’s strike you right there and then, you can never guess..

  11. CJ says:

    @athenayesha

If belief in destiny means that I believe the universe will contrive itself to give me a happy ending , then no. For that I just use hope, as well as working at it.

If it means believing in cause and effect, and that the universe could indifferently make my life good or bad, then yes I ‘believe’ in it, in the same way I believe in gravity. But I also think that our own choices are a part of that destiny, and are still our choices even if predetermined on some level because what I consider to be ‘me’ is still making them, and I think it’s probably oversimplified to view every single thing as necessarily coming after something else.

    How’s that for a long answer? :)

  12. Tomas says:

I shouldn’t really do this but then again I never held back before…I am going to take this an abstration level higher (or putting more worms into it as @CJ might call it): I don’t believe in destiny as a personal path but i do believe in destiny as a form that can be molded by each and every individual. Having and acting (social, political, educational) on the basis of a positive outlook (like @athenayesha and @juli pointed out) can effect in ‘more favourable’ outcomes but not just for a single individual but for the evolution of human kind. Thus, I understand @ibby’s statement that there isn’t always a meaning in every course of action (like somebody throwing stones from a bridge on cars) but again that leads me to the point earlier: our actions have consequences (we are quite powerful in a way) and when we talk about destiny, it’s the destiny of the human species that each of us determines.

Next episode will be much lighter…I promise :)

  13. athenayesha says:

This ‘Obituaries’ excerpt from the movie SERENDIPITY…This is not the literal ‘obitauries’ but its a letter how Jonathan Trager(John Cusack) changed by fortunate accidents…

Jonathan Trager prominent television producer for ESPN died last night from complications of losing his soul mate and his fiance.. He was 35 years and soft spoken and obsessive..Trager never looked the part of a hopeless romantic..But in the final days of his life he revealed an unknown side of his pshyche..This hidden quasi – jungian persona surfaced during the Agatha Christie – like pursuit for his long refuted soul mate, a woman whom he only spent a few precious hours with…Sadly, the protracted search ended late saturday night…..in complete and utter failure. Yet, even in certain defeat, the courageous Trager secretly clung to the belief….that life is not a series of meaningless accidents and coincidences but rather its a tapestry of events that culminte an exquisite and sublime plan..Asked about the lose of his dear friend,Dean Kansky(Jeremy Piven, actually he’s the the who write this letter) the Pulitzer Prize – winning author and executive editor of New York times describes Jonathan as a changed man in the last days of his life ‘things were clearer for him’ Kansky noted..Ultimately Jonathan concluded that if we are to live life in harmony with the universe,we must all posess a powerful faith in what the ancients used to call ‘Fatum’, -what we currently refer to as ‘DESTINY’….

  14. ibby says:

i agree on the choices and causes thing. every choice you make has an effect on your environment. but not destiny made you do the choice but you yourself.
